Growing Together: Group Programs for Kids

Our Occupational Therapy Group Programs offer a fun, interactive, and supportive way for children to develop key skills while connecting with peers.

Interactive Group Programs to Help Kids Thrive

Our Group programs are designed to address a range of developmental needs, focusing on improving motor skills, social interactions, sensory regulation, and emotional well-being—all in a group setting that encourages teamwork and peer learning.

By joining our group programs, your child will engage in structured, play-based activities that build confidence, enhance social skills, and help them overcome everyday challenges. Whether it’s improving fine motor skills, learning how to regulate emotions, or practicing social cues, our group programs offer a safe and engaging environment for your child to grow.

Who We Can Help in Our Group Programs

Our group programs are tailored to children who may benefit from a group setting and who are looking to develop:

  • Social Skills - (e.g., making friends, taking turns, sharing, understanding social cues)

  • Fine and Gross Motor Skills - (e.g., handwriting, cutting with scissors, balance, coordination, and physical play)

  • Sensory Regulation - (e.g., managing sensory sensitivities to sounds, textures, and lights)

  • Self-Regulation and Emotional Control - (e.g., managing frustration, anxiety, or stress, and learning coping strategies)

  • Focus and Attention - (e.g., staying on task, following group instructions, and completing activities)

Our group programs are ideal for children who thrive in a social environment and benefit from peer interactions. They’re also great for children who are working on social, motor, or emotional skills but may need additional support to reach their full potential.

Why Your Child Might Need Our Group Programs

Your child might benefit from our group programs if they:

  • Struggle with social interactions and find it difficult to connect with peers or understand social norms.

  • Have trouble with motor skills like holding a pencil, cutting with scissors, or catching a ball, and would benefit from additional practice in a group setting.

  • Feel overwhelmed by sensory stimuli (e.g., loud noises, bright lights, or certain textures) and could use guidance in managing sensory input in a structured, supportive environment.

  • Need support with emotional regulation - whether it’s dealing with frustration, managing anxiety, or learning how to cope with change or disappointment in a group.

  • Find it challenging to stay focused or follow directions in a busy environment, and would benefit from practicing these skills in a group setting with peers.

Our group programs allow children to practice these skills in a supportive, fun environment with guidance from our experienced occupational therapists. Group therapy not only helps your child develop individually, but also fosters a sense of community and connection with others facing similar challenges.

The Process of Working With You for Our Group Programs

Group Placement

Based on the assessment, we’ll place your child in the most appropriate group program. Each group is designed to ensure a positive experience, where children can engage at their own pace while working on specific goals.

Initial Consultation and Assessment

The process begins with a one-on-one consultation with an occupational therapist. During this session, we’ll discuss your child’s unique needs, strengths, and challenges. We may conduct an assessment to determine which group program would be the best fit for your child.

Parent and Caregiver Involvement

Throughout the program, we keep parents and caregivers informed of their child’s progress. You’ll receive regular updates on what skills are being worked on and how your child is progressing. We also provide home-based strategies and activities to support your child’s growth outside of group sessions.

Therapeutic Group Sessions

Our group sessions are structured but flexible. Each session typically includes a mix of activities, games, and exercises that address the group’s goals—whether that’s improving social skills, motor skills, or emotional regulation. Activities are designed to be both fun and therapeutic, so children are motivated and excited to participate.

Ongoing Evaluation and Progress Monitoring

Our therapists will continually assess the progress of the group, adjusting the activities as needed to ensure each child’s goals are being met. Periodically, we’ll check in with you to discuss your child’s development and any adjustments needed to their plan.

Fun and Peer Interaction

In addition to therapeutic goals, group therapy fosters peer interactions, which can be especially beneficial for children working on social skills. Your child will have the chance to practice taking turns, sharing, and working as part of a team in a natural, supportive setting.
